Gotland Ferries

About us

gotlandferries.com is a multilingual comparison and information site for the ferry connections to Gotland. The routes connect Nynäshamn, near Stockholm, and Oskarshamn on the Swedish mainland with Visby on Gotland; a night connection from Stockholm to Visby runs seasonally with Viking Line's Birka Gotland. Destination Gotland operates the two year-round mainland routes, and the mainland crossings take around three hours.

Gotland has no bridge, so every trip starts with the same two practical points: whether a vehicle comes along, and which mainland port you board at. Without a car, Nynäshamn is the answer, because the commuter train from Stockholm reaches the terminal in about an hour and Visby's walled old town is walkable once you land. With a car or camper, Oskarshamn comes into play: it lies far enough south to save the drive around the Stockholm region. We put the two mainland ports side by side with sailing time, frequency and the journey to the terminal, and we say when the summer sailing from Stockholm is a cruise rather than a shortcut.

What this site is not

gotlandferries.com is an independent comparison guide. We are not the official website of Destination Gotland or Viking Line, and we do not set timetables, fares or conditions of carriage. We are not a Gotland travel guide and not a hotel portal, and we deliberately leave out sights, hotel bookings, flights and rental cars. We do not sell tickets ourselves: booking takes place directly with the operating ferry company, for the mainland routes at destinationgotland.se, where the current prices, availability and terms apply.
