Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about the Gotland ferry timetable.
How up to date is this timetable?+
The departures above come directly from the ferry operators' data and are updated daily. Short-notice changes are announced by the operator first - double-check your booking confirmation again on the day of travel.
Which connection gets me to Gotland fastest?+
Destination Gotland's ferries: just over three hours from Nynäshamn, around three hours from Oskarshamn. Nynäshamn is 60 kilometres south of Stockholm and reachable by commuter train in an hour; Oskarshamn is the shorter route for anyone coming from southern or western Sweden.
Why does the connection from Stockholm take over 16 hours?+
Because it isn't a ferry in the usual sense but a mini-cruise by Viking Line via Mariehamn on Åland. The ship has no vehicle deck and only sails in summer. If you simply want to get to Gotland, take the ferry from Nynäshamn instead.
How early do I need to be at the terminal?+
With Destination Gotland, check-in opens at the latest 1 hour 30 minutes before departure and closes 20 minutes before - for vehicles and foot passengers alike. Your boarding pass arrives automatically around three hours before departure by SMS or email.
